THE END

I am really happy to be in the Bright Bats Club. We did a lot of projects and joined many activities. Everything was new to me and was interesting. I really like this club.

We worked together and helped each other. I remember that we went to Nantou(南投) for the field trip. We had BBQ there. Though it rained that night, we really had fun in the small rain with each other. I remember that we had a project with an Indian school about food. We held a garden party at school and ate a lot of delicious Taiwanese snacks. That was a yummy afternoon.

We just had a small party last Friday. We had a gift exchange. I got a pack of chocolate from Jacky and Sandy got the socks and a pencil case from me. Also we all ate the fortune cookies. I got two notes in one cookie luckily!! Ha ha it means that I will be very lucky this year!!! I got a card from a junior schoolmate who is also a member in this club. He said that I am his idol! But I didn’t even know him! That was awkward. I felt a little weird. Oh~ I am a little sad that I am going to leave this club. This is a really great club!!!

Olympic Truce

We decided to put the earth in the middle of the poster. It means that even though people are from different countries, we live in this global village. The red bright word, BELIEVE, tells us that we have to believe and trust each other.  And the olive branches on both sides of the earth are the symbol of peace. Than we painted white flowers and wrote the words “pure” and “fair” in the bottom corners of the poster. They mean that we should simply play fair games.

I am very surprised that we could finish this hard work. In the beginning, we didn’t even know how to start this work. But after we finished the earth in the middle, ideas came out quickly! But how to make what we thought onto the picture was difficult. Anyway, we made it!! I am very glad that I can have this special experience.

Famous Taiwanese Snacks
Pearl Milk Tea: It’s also called “Bubble Milk Tea”. It’s a famous Taiwanese drink in Taiwan. Everyone likes to have some in the hot summer. It tastes sweet and smooth. The sago pearls in your mouth are chewy and a little bit sweet. This snack is very creative. People just add some sago pearls into the milk tea and this drink becomes so different and very popular in the world. CNN has chosen 50 most delicious drinks in the world. The pearl milk tea rank 25th! People all over the world love pearl milk tea from Taiwan.

Steamed Juicy Dumpling: This is a famous Chinese dim sum. It is juicy because there is pork filling with meat juice in it. Take a small bite and then sip the meat juice inside the dumpling. But do remember: it is pretty hot and don’t burn your tongue! The famous Le Guide Michelin recommends Taiwanese steamed juicy dumplings to the world. This delicious steamed juicy dumpling in Taiwan has got one star from Le Guide Michelin three times.

Taiwanese Table Manners: In Taiwan there are some taboos about eating. Don’t put your chopsticks upright in your rice. It is very rude. It looks like incense stuck in the ash of a center. It seems like someone died. So when you finish eating, please put you chopsticks flat on your plate, your bowl, or just on the table. Besides, it is more polite to have elders sit down first. Wait for the host to tell you where to sit, so you won’t sit on the wrong seat.

About Taiwanese Snacks

If you want to know about Taiwan, there are a lot of things to say.
As you can see, Taiwanese foods are very famous in other countries.
So let's talk about Taiwanese snacks.

This is "Pineapple Cake".
The stuffing inside tastes sour and sweet.
It's very famous in Taiwan. A lot of people like it very much!

This is "Stinky Tofu".
It is a kind of fermented bean curd.
Every Taiwanese knows it. If you don't know this food, you're not from Taiwan!
The tofu is the yellow square with spring onions on the top.
The thing behind the tofu is kimchi. It's different from Korean kimchi.
The red thing on the top of the kimchi is spicy sauce.
The stinky tofu tastes very great. By the way, it's not stinky. It smells good!

This is "Oyster Omelet."
It's a typical Taiwanese snack.
It smells very good. The oysters are fresh and sweet.
Eating with some ketchup is a perfect choice.
You can also add some bean sprouts or Chinese cabbage in it.

This is "Roast Yam or Roast Sweet Potato".
It is soft and sweet.
Long time ago Taiwanese people will eat roasted sweet potato for every meal.

This is how peolpe roast the sweet potatoes.

This is glutinous rice dumpling. Its shape is very special.
You will put some peanut powder and soy sauce on it.
There are some mushrooms, pork, dried shrimps and an egg yolk inside the rice dumpling.

This is "red bean pie".
It's a kind of traditional dessert in Taiwan.
The most basic flavor is the red bean. But there are lots of flavors now,
like chocolate, butter, dried turnip etc.
It tastes sweet and smells good. It's a great Taiwanese snack.

This is a night market. You can enjoy lots of tasty Taiwanese food in it.

In a word, there are a lot of delicious foods in Taiwan more than I just mentioned. Hope you enjoy my introduction about Taiwanese snacks.

Trip to the UK and Paris

This summer I went to Hill Top in England, where Beatrix Potter lived before. Her garden is very nice. There are rabbits and sheep on the grassland in the garden. There are some letters on the rocks in the garden, and we can unscramble them to a word. It was fun, but I couldn’t find all of the letters. So I didn’t finish the game. I think Beatrix Potter is a very great artist. She created the most famous rabbit in the world, Petter Rabbit. It is so cute that I bought a little purse there.

I also went to Musee’ de Louvre (羅浮宮) at Paris. There is a famous painting—Mona Lisa. In the past when I saw this picture on TV, I thought it was so big. But this time I did see it, just in front of me. But it is smaller than I thought! I was a little disappointed. Anyway, this was a great chance to take a look at this famous work of L. de Vinci (達文西), so we took lots of pictures! I think Mona Lisa’s smile is very special, because no one knows what she is smiling at. But that is why this painting is so famous.

Metro (underground or subway) is the public transportation in Paris, but I don’t like it very much. It is really convenient, but it is so dim inside the train. And the trains are so old that I thought it might break down anytime!
I was happy about this trip. And I had a great time.

                                Protect Our Earth
In a sunny afternoon we took the trip to the wetland. There are a lot of special plants and many kinds of animals! The most important thing the teacher wants to tell us is ---- to protect the earth. We learn that people who want to protect the environment make this wetland. They don’t want this area to be a park. Because if it is a wetland, it can save lots of creatures. It’s better than being a park. After the trip, we thought about how to protect our earth. Those people who help to keep the wetland save creatures and balance the environment.
Two weeks ago the manager of Starbucks came to share what they did with us. They save a lot of coffee dregs. Coffee dregs can do lots of things. For example, they can be natural fertilizers and they can get rid of the smell of the fridge. Well, I will turn off the light when I leave the room. And I won’t waste the water. I always turn off the faucet. I hope that I can do more things that can help to save the earth!

A Nightmare
Then I turned around, a ten-foot-tall pencil was standing right behind me! I had never seen that huge pencil before! So I quickly stood up, ran over to the door. Then I saw my baby with my babysitter kidnapped by a gigantic eraser! That large eraser was feeding them some tiny eraser. But my baby didn’t even have a tooth! So I ran as fast as I could to grab my baby. I caught him. Suddenly, the pencil and the eraser were gone! I was so happy! But just in a moment, my babysitter became an enormous bottle of glue! She yelled at me, “ Why didn’t you save me?” Then she spit glue on me. I couldn’t move! The glue babysitter grabed my baby and she was going to throw him down to the window! I shouted, “No!” Then I fell down into a black hole and hit onto the floor. I woke up and found myself falling down on the floor. Oh my gosh! I’m glad it was only a dream.
